Abstract

One of the natural ingredients as an alternative biological therapy that is known to
be safe and effective choice is Aloe vera (Aloe barbadensis M) which is efficacious to help the
process of cell regeneration, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory. The purpose of this
study was to determine the effect of aloe vera extract (Aloe barbadensis M) against the number of
fibroblasts and calcium levels in the tibia of wistar rats. The type of this research is a laboratory
experimental research with post test only control group design, the sample amount is 24 rats
consisting of 8 rats used as a control group, 8 rats were given aloe vera extract 9 mg, and 8 rats
were given aloe vera extract as much as 11 mg with a purposive sampling technique. The statistical
test used was the One Way ANOVA parametric test. The results of this study found that the highest
average number of fibroblasts was in the dose group 11 mg day 25 with an average value of 103.8
cells / field of view, and the highest calcium amount was the dose group 11 mg on day 25 with an
average value of 228,804 mg / gr. The results of data analysis using the One Way ANOVA test
obtained p-value <0.05. Based on these results it can be concluded that there is an influence of
aloe vera extract (Aloe Barbadensis M) against of fibroblasts and calcium levels in the tibia bones
of wistar rats.
